We provide a unique Montessori based learning environment  in alignment with the Indiana State preschool standards which ensures that ELC’s students are better prepared, socially and academically, to enter kindergarten and are more likely to be successful throughout their educational experience. In addition to subjects like reading, math and science, the classes offer students specialized courses in music, art, and Spanish.

In fulfillment of its commitment to building a community of life-long learners, JCLC’s pre-school curriculum emphasizes parental involvement. We feel strongly that a parent is their child’s first and best teacher. We encourage parents to volunteer in the classroom so they can be a part of the learning experience. Our partnership with parents enables us to extend the lessons beyond the classroom and into our students’ homes

ELC currently operates pre-school programs at two sites: English language full-day and half-day classes at the in Franklin and the half-day Punjabi ESL classes in Greenwood.

Goals of Early Learning Community Preschool

  • To enter into a partnership with parents in the education of their children
  • To encourage the self motivation and self-discipline that will lead to a life-long pursuit of knowledge
  • To help children develop a positive self-image as the key to the development of their full potential.
  • To foster open minds, compassion and respect for others.
  • To balance self-reliance,independence and responsible freedom with the skills of working cooperatively
  • To instill in each child a sense of duty and personal responsibility for the world in which we live.
  • To Spark in our children imagination, wonder, humor and joy.
  • To promote a love of learning by allowing them to explore subjects of personal interest.

    Montessori Based Program

ELC’s curriculum is  based on many of the principles that guide Montessori schools. Its core belief is that the individual child, not the daily lesson plan, is the focus. Children are led to ask questions, think for themselves, explore, investigate, and discover. We use the children’s interests to enrich the curriculum and provide alternate avenues for accomplishment and success. This allows the child to advance within a subject area at a pace that emphasizes their individual strengths. Another key aspect of the model is creating a sense of community that encourages a positive respect for self and others.
